One of the most frequent questions we get asked by new customers is: why are first-time cleaning appointment rates higher than subsequent routine rates? We cannot talk for other cleaning services, but we do know that this pricing structure has become the standard in the industry. I will give a few reasons in this blog post to try to answer this question when it comes to us, Juanita's House Cleaning.
The very first time we go into a house we expect to find a bit more dust and areas in need of "elbow grease" attention. That is why we also consider the initial cleaning a thorough or deep cleaning. We know that the first time we enter a home to clean it, it will require our team more effort than the subsequent appointments - assuming the customer decides to hire us on a regular basis after the initial cleaning.
We try to take into consideration a couple of factors when quoting an initial cleaning appointment - particularly having to do with whether or not the new customer has had a service clean and how recent their last appointment took place. There have been instances when we have waived the initial cleaning rate altogether because we just didn't believe the house was in a state where a deep/initial cleaning was required. In theses instances we start off with the routine - weekly, bi-weekly, monthly - rates. I want to point out that these are very rare instances, though. If I had to put a number to how many times we waive the initial cleaning rate, I'm prone to say that about 1 out of 20 new customers get their initial cleaning rate waived. Many times even if the new customer has had a cleaning service recently we find ourselves having to charge the initial cleaning rate. This has to do with the fact that we (cleaning businesses) have different styles and methods of cleaning. Our approach to cleaning is very systematic. In fact, our cleaning philosophy is to clean from top-to-bottom, from the rear of the house towards the front door, through which we entered. Don't worry if this makes no sense to you, LOL. But, we train our team members this way. We want to make sure that you're getting every dollar's worth of cleaning, particularly on the first visit when you are paying more for our service. Now, this doesn't mean that our efforts diminish on future visits. Quite the contrary. As I mentioned earlier, we make sure that the system we use to cleaning a house covers all areas of the home - top to bottom. And, you can rest assured that on every routine visit we strive to add one extra task to our visit - this can range from wiping down the light switches, cleaning certain baseboards, wiping down fingerprints on different doors, etc. If you're browsing our site and came across this post and you're still not a customer, then feel free to contact us and inquire about our service. I never took into account the fact that there have been times when we have waived the initial cleaning fee entirely since we did not think the house was in a state that required deep/initial cleaning. I remember when I was a college student I was proudly answering the question but now I realize it was different. Thank you for helping me understand the right information about cleaning services.

It helped when you mentioned that cleaning services employ a systematic approach to cleaning. My friend wants to ensure that their facility is well maintained. I think the best option is to hire a janitorial service to conduct regular cleaning.

he initial cleaning of a space often requires more time, effort, and attention compared to regular cleanings. This is because it involves deep cleaning, tackling accumulated dirt, grime, and neglected areas. Initial cleanings may involve thorough scrubbing, extensive dusting, and addressing any areas that have been neglected for a while. The additional work and attention to detail during the initial cleaning contribute to its higher cost, ensuring a fresh and clean starting point for subsequent regular maintenance cleanings.
